If you’re like me, I hate to wait. I hate waiting for the elevator to reach the level that I’m in. I hate waiting so long for the food to be served. I can’t wait until the commercial is over and get back in watching my favorite show. I hate it when our internet is so slow. Well, I guess, all of us in one way or another does not like the feeling of waiting too long. Even the most patient person I know can be very frustrated when it takes too long.
How about waiting for something that you’ve been asking God for and yet it takes too long?
Whether you’re waiting for a promotion, a job offer, a graduation, whether it’s waiting for your turn to be a parent to a child or it’s waiting for your own wedding to happen. Maybe you’re waiting for your family to be reconciled. Maybe it’s a deal you’re waiting to be closed. Maybe it’s a provision for your family. All I know is that we are all waiting for something. Something that’s not yet here. So let me give you a couple of encouragements that hopefully will help you through in your waiting.
Who you become as you wait matters more, than what you get after you wait.
It is important to know that who you become as you wait is an even greater thing to look forward to more than what you get after the wait. What perspective and attitudes are developing in you as you wait? Your season of waiting can actually produce certain things in your life that prepares you to receive better what you’re waiting for. Embrace this season of waiting because it has the potential to help you receive better what you wanted to get. This season can mature you. It can help you see things in a different point of view. This can be a season of remembering God’s faithfulness in your life. It can be a season of remembering how much you have been blessed in the first place. It doesn’t really matter what you get after the wait if you’ll get it with the wrong heart.
It doesn’t really matter what you get after the wait if you’ll get it with the wrong heart.
While you wait, you’re not just waiting on God but you are also waiting with God.
Remember that you are not just waiting for God to give you something but more than that, you’re waiting with God as He gives you something. When we remember that, it gives us the assurance that no matter how hard the waiting can be at times, there’s a God who is walking with you in this season of your life. God wants you to know that you can tell him your frustrations, your longings, your worries, you can tell him exactly what you’re feeling in this waiting. Inside of His good and perfect will, God wants to provide for your need, the question is, would you trust that He knows what’s best? Nothing gives you more confidence in life than knowing that there’s a God who knows exactly what you need and is able and willing to provide. Would you trust Him? As you wait, he is right there waiting with you. So, wait for it. Whether it’s been 5 five years or 20 years, God has every good intention of fulfilling His will for your life.
